Puig i Cadafalch, along with Doménech i Montaner and Antonio Gaudi, are the three most representative architects of Catalonian Modernism. Cadafalch was responsible for the construction of the textile factory in the lower part of Mount Montjuic, for Barcelona businessman, Casimir Casaramona. Since 2002, it has become part of the La Caixa Foundation, with its entirety dedicated to benefitting society. It is now one of the main nuclei for artistic activity in Barcelona. In the past years, the centre has gained international acclaim, through its Catalonian contemporary art collection. The centre also organises other activities, including film viewings and night screenings in the summer months. The perfect way to end a visit to Montjuic is to enjoy an open-air film. Another of the centre’s main attractions is the Modernist hall, which takes on the original idea of using this type of Modernist, industrial architecture to display a collection of the same nature. Make sure to check the schedule of activities before your visit, for great discounts on your tickets.
