Cathedral Museum

The cathedral's religious art collection.

On the ground floor of the cathedral, this museum created in 1929 is devoted to religious art, displaying a wide range of liturgical objects, ornaments, and gold work. Among its prominent pieces is a monstrance donated by Queen Isabella after the reconquest of Granada from the Moors, and various works by the well-known Granada sculptor Alonzo Cano (1601-67). If you'd like more Cano, across from the Cathedral is the Alonzo Cano Diocesan Museum, established in 2002, with more than 100 Cano works in its permanent collection as well as temporary exhibitions of others lent by other museums.
