Fajalauza Pottery and Tiles

Some of Spain's most venerable and traditional earthenware

Typical of Granada's Albaycín neighbourhood, Fajalauza earthenware takes its name from one of the six gates of the former city walls, and has largely stuck to its traditional blue and green designs since the Middle Ages (nowadays, though, new techniques have also allowed the addition of various new colours and designs). The best place to seek it out is the family-owned Fajalauza pottery works (www.Fajalauza.com) at Carretera de Murcia 15, specialising in tiles, mosaics, bowls and more since 1640 - yes, 1640.
