From its soaring naves to its golden High Chapel, the cathedral is perhaps Granada's most impressive landmark after the Alhambra.

Granada Cathedral

One of the top examples of the Spanish Renaissance.

Virtually everything impresses about Granada's cathedral, starting with its main façade - fairly simple, yet imposing as it looms over all the nearby buildings. Inside, the great height of its five naves is breathtaking, as its all-gold High Chapel at the end, illuminated by the light filtering in through the great stained glass windows. Its construction begun in Gothic style under Enrique Gas in 1523, it was later the great architect Diego de Siloé who put his final stamp on the cathedral, converting it into one of the top examples of the Spanish Renaissance. Open for visits daily except Sundays and religious holidays when services are held.
