A gastronomy temple in Jerez is the Bar Juanito (and its subsidiary, Altacazuela), located on Pescadería Vieja Street. Here you can sample no less than 52 different tapas. Its specialty is made with artichokes, the star of the kitchen, and was awarded the National Tapas Award. Having said this, it is worth trying all of their appetizers, such as the tuna with onions, the 'papas aliñás' or shredded tongue. After the starters, you should try some of the signature Andalusian dishes, prepared following homemade recipes that have attracted loyal customers for years. Scrambled eggs, beef cheeks, noodles with prawns or Jerez cabbage, amongst other dishes. The choice will be a difficult one, so let your waiter advise you and remember to check the seasonal speciality.
