Calle Martín de los Heros, in the heart of the Argüelles neighbourhood lies the cinema street. A few metres from the Plaza de España and the calle Princesa, you will find cinemas offering everything from the usual listings to independent films, original version films and more alternative short films. For this reason, in 2011 it was selected as the place in which to open Madrid's Walk of Fame. Along these pavements the first 25 stars dedicated to 25 icons of Spanish cinema were placed. Penélope Cruz, Fernando Fernán Gómez... Season after season, new tributes are added, helping to immortalise Spanish cinema and film-makers. Many people walk along here out of sheer curiosity, but many cinema buffs come to check out the listings or to browse in the nearby cinema-themed shops.
