Calhambeque

Exquisite food like Grandma used to make... for 10 euros.

With good food and even better prices this modest but tasteful place located in the heart of La Coadaria, this place, like the Café Majestic, is a common stop-off for enjoying a snack (whether at noon or midnight) for travellers visiting Porto. Here you can sample home-made Portuguese cuisine as if they’d been made by your very own granny. There are different types of fish and meat on offer, all accompanied by “confeijão” rice (or the same thing, namely rice and beans), potatoes (which may be French fries or boiled) and salad. All rounded off with pleasant service and a wide selection of typically Portuguese sweets. The menu given represents a good choice, cheap and tasty, and won’t exceed 10 euros a head.
