On the outskirts of the capital, 23 kilometres (14 miles) from downtown, El Boqueron National Park is a natural haven rising 1,800 metres (5,900 feet) above the jungle. It's popular for visitors who want to get to know the natural areas near San Salvador, and there are a number of routes you can take through the park. And there's actually a smaller caldera within the larger one, called el boqueroncito - cute, eh?
