One of San Salvador's newest museums, on Calle La Reforma near the art and anthropology museums, opened its doors in 1997 as a centre for higher education and has in the years since achieved a measure of international prestige especially in the field of physics. Though these days still primarily student-focused, it's still possible to arrange visits by appointment. Inside you'll find several interesting offerings, such as its satellite mapping area and its exhibition on magnetic fields. It also conducts a number of experiments that are highly engaging for young and older alike. All this in addition to the frequent talks and workshops given here put this institution in the forefront of Central America's scientific community.
