Santander offers an unusual and vast selection of gastronomy. On the one hand, the city offers some of the most traditional dishes, using seafood such as squid or meat, such as venison, which is one of the region’s traditional meats. On the other hand, a new trend of avant-garde cuisine has hit this city hard, in the form of both main dishes and tapas. We have a few gastronomic recommendations: Hernan Cortes Street and roads running parallel offer a huge variety of trendy taverns and bars, which serve an interesting fusion of both traditional and avant-garde cuisine. Although Santander has created a name for itself like other areas of the peninsula, with regard to tapas and other small portions in the last years, they are not particularly cheap. This is why we recommend taking a glance at the menu before entering an establishment and ordering food. We suggest starting your culinary tour at Pombo Square, ending at Puertochico. Enjoy!
