This is just a symbolic name given to the centre of the El Sardinero neighbourhood, as this actual square has not existed for several years. However, it is still this district’s hub of activity, and the most exclusive in the city. The entire coast between the Magdalena Peninsula and Mataleñas Beach is considered part of El Sardinero. As you go along this beautiful boulevard, you will see the Cantabrian coast and its beaches on one side, and some of the city’s most important buildings, such as Emilion Botin’s house and the Casino (which starred in the Spanish film, Air-Bag) on the other side. This is how you get to the Sardinero Sport Fields, which is the official home of the Real Racing Club Santander football team. We recommend stopping where this square once was and sampling a Regma ice cream. Simply Santander!
