The Picos de Europa (Peaks of Europe) are named after the fact that they were the sailors’ first report of terra firma when they arrived to the peninsula from the Bay of Biscay. This was the gateway to Europe. Although this was long ago, the Picos de Europa are still a world-renowned tourist attraction to this day. It is impossible to summarise all that this mountain range that lies between Cantabria, Leon and Asturias has to offer. If you’re visiting for a long period of time, we recommend a visit here to discover its beauty for yourself, starting with a trip on the famous Fuente Dé cable car, which offers stunning views of the mountains and their peaks. You will then begin to understand the true majesty of this area. Afterwards, grab a bite to eat in Potes, which is the capital of this area, and walk over to Santo Toribio de Liebana, where the remains of Jesus Christ’s cross are said to be kept. And that’s just the start of it!
