Another of the soaring, futuristic structures created by A-list starchitect Santiago Calatrava for the City of Arts and Sciences, L'Àgora is a huge, roofed space that's adaptable for all manner of events including exhibitions, sporting events (Like the Valencia Tennis Open 500), concerts, festivals, and congresses. Its silhouette has become a recognisable icon, with its vertical blue-and-white ellipse and interplay of columns and soaring windows. The name Agora, of course, harks back to the ancient Greek concept of the public forum.
