Gourmet cuisine in Vigo has a name of its own: Esteban. Opening in 2002 in a restored Galician stone house, this restaurant has its own summer terrace, gardens and function room. However, the most important thing about Esteban Selección Culinaria is what's on the plate. As Esteban would say, the food here is based on "market cooking" or recipes that marry first-class local ingredients with the chef's unique creative flair. With highlights including the scallops with pâté and mango or steamed fillet of sea bass with Galician seaweed, this restaurant more than lives up to its famous name. Reasonably priced set menus are available throughout the week. Although this restaurant is not actually in Vigo, it is well worth a visit to the nearby town of Mos, just twenty minutes from the city centre.
