Is there any type of special treatment for NGOs?


Together with British Airways, Iberia is launching a new collaborative project: fares with special benefits intended for clients belonging to non-profit humanitarian organisations, religious institutions and lay social service agencies, who travel for humanitarian reasons.
These new rates, both in the Tourist as well as Business Class, are applied on entire the destination network for Iberia and British Airways, whether for one way trips or return journeys. They allow changes and reimbursements without any type of penalty and they also always include two pieces of luggage in tourist class on flights operated by Iberia and British Airways.

Why is it that such different fares can apply on a single flight? What factors are responsible?


We offer different types of tickets and fares in our travel classes for flights in Europe and intercontinental flights. Each fare has its own terms and conditions which are designed to meet your needs as closely as possible. These terms and conditions may vary according to the flight, and we therefore recommend that you check them during the purchase process.
Once you have selected your origin/destination and dates in our flight searcher, the prices will be displayed underneath the names of the different fares. To find out exactly which services are offered (seat selection, baggage in hold, changes, refunds, etc.), click on each item. This will open a window with all the details and terms and conditions of each fare.

Fares for short and medium-haul flights

  • In the Economy cabin: Basic, Optimal and Flexible.
  • In the Business cabin: Business Promotional and Business Flexible.

Fares for long-haul flights

  • In the Economy cabin: Basic, Optimal and Flexible.
  • In the Premium Economy cabin: Premium Economy Promotional and Premium Economy Flexible.
  • In the Business cabin: Business Promotional and Business Flexible.

You can also add the options offered during the purchase process or at a later time to ensure a personalised experience that meets your needs.

Plus there are discount fares and special offers for specific groups travelling as NGO volunteers, sailors or for businesspeople, exhibitors and press attending trade fairs and congresses.
For now there is no discount fare for customers over the age of 65 (except for inter-Balearic flights) , military personnel, single-parent family, people with a disability or pilgrims. However, on our website you will find a number of very interesting special price offers, depending on flight dates and availability.

What does it mean when restrictions apply to the tariff shown, or if there are no restrictions?


When we speak of tariffs where restrictions apply we mean all those that have some type of limitation in the conditions that apply, that could refer to changes or refunds. Normally these are the lowest fares.

The tariffs without restrictions would be all those that allow changes and refunds. These are the "full economy tariffs" and the "full Business Class tariffs".

Most of the tariffs where restrictions apply DO NOT ALLOW refunds, returns or changes, or else there are associated fees for administrative services.

Can I choose the currency for seeing ticket prices?


Yes. Once you have chosen your destination and accepted the flights, at the bottom of the next page, to the left of "TOTAL PRICE", there is a box that can show the ticket price in the currency you require.

Fuel surcharge


Iberia applies a fuel surcharge on all of its flights to reflect fluctuations in the price of crude oil around the world. The surcharge is based on flight duration and applies to all passengers, including children and infants, who travel on domestic and international services. The fuel surcharge may reimbursable, depending on the specific fare regulations and other parameters. We would therefore ask you to consult Serviberia, or see your travel agent if the ticket was issued by a travel agency and the trip has yet to begin.

What's the difference between Business Class and Promotional Business Class?


The service, seat and customer care are all the same. The difference lies solely and exclusively in the fare and ticket restrictions, primarily when changing times, cancellations and possible changes to routes. While "Business Rate" does not carry any type of restriction in terms of changes, the "Promotional Business" Rate may involve penalties or prohibitions if customers wish to make changes to the information on the original ticket.

Visit your friends and relatives


If you live in Europe and have to travel to a country outside of the European Community or vice versa to visit friends or relatives, we have a special fare with particular advantages depending on the countries of origin and destination.

What does Class stand for in a ticket?


The booking class for each flight corresponds to a letter. This system of classes is the standard one used throughout the airline industry. It means that fares have different conditions in terms of reimbursements, cancellations, etc., and they relate directly to the amount paid for the ticket and the space available in each class on different flights. The allocation of letters by Business and Tourist cabin depends on the route. The following is an example of how classes are distributed on an aircraft:

Can the ticket prices vary according to age?


Yes, but they will vary depending on the age and also departure/destination point and the tariffs that were applied, although as a general rule we can say that:

  • Adult: After turning 12 years of age, an adult fare (ADT) is applied for all clients.
    On inter-Balearic flights (Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca and Menorca), there are discount fares for Young people (between 12 and 24 years) and for Senior (people over 65 years).
  • Child: Children older than two years and younger than twelve years of age (CHD) at the moment the flights depart travel paying 50% of the fare on domestic flights(flights within Spain) with full tariff (i.e. without restrictions). If this minor, is to reach his/her 12th birthday before the end of the journey, you will have to purchase an adult fare ticket (ADT) for the entire journey.
  • Infant: Children that still have not reached two years of age (INF) at the moment the flights depart and that don't occupy a seat pay 10% of the adult fare. These passengers may only travel with an adult. If this baby or infant, is to reach his/her second birthday before the end of the journey, you will have to purchase a child fare ticket (CHD) for the entire journey.
    If you want a child under two years of age to travel occupying a seat, the child will pay the tariff for children between 2 and 11 years of age (CHD), and will have to bring an approved child seat to travel in.
    In addition, if an adult travels with two babies, one will pay the corresponding (INF) tariff, travelling on the adult passenger's lap, but the second baby will pay the tariff for children between 2 and 11 years of age (CHD), as they occupy a seat (they must bring an approved child seat to travel in).

For reduced tariffs a percentage will be applied that will depend on the tariff chosen.
On international flights this percentage rate will vary depending on the destination and the tariff applied.
For some special offers no discount will be applied.

Must I always pay ticketing fees?


The fees to be paid will vary depending on these factors:

The ticketing fees for each ticket bought at www.iberia.com for any class of tariff will be charged by Iberia in accordance with the following table*:

Tickets using Avios are exempt from paying administrative fees.

Remember that refunds incur an administrative fee, which varies depending on the global location.
Ticketing fees are not refundable.

Itinerary changes also incur an administrative fee, which also varies according to the country.
