    How can I earn Avios?

    Step 1

    Enter your Iberia Club card number when you book your flight or when you check in.

    Step 2

    Flown with American Airlines in the last 6 months and the Avios are not yet in your account? You have up to six months from the date of your flight to claim them by clicking here.

    EARNING ELITE POINTS AND AVIOS

    For each flight you take with an American Airlines (AA) code, you can earn:

    • Avios, the currency you accumulate in your balance to redeem for flights, accommodation, car hire, leisure experiences, and more.

    • Elite Points which you use to move up or maintain your level in Iberia Club. They also grant access to Elite Rewards, exclusive gifts that you obtain along the way to a new level.

     

    EARNING AVIOS

    Earning Avios on direct flights with an American Airlines (AA) code is based on the following criteria:

    • Spending in euros (€).
      Applicable to net spending (fare and carrier charges) excluding taxes and fees.

    • Card tier.

    EARNING ELITE POINTS

      Applicable to net spending (fare and carrier charges) excluding taxes and fees.

    • Destination, cabin, and fare of the flight.

    EARNING ELITE POINTS (Extra by fare)

    Elite Points Extra by fare will depend on the booking class and the distance, in miles, for each flight.

    Elite Points (Extra by fare) will not be accumulated on fights booked with American Airlines Basic Economy fares.

     

    EXCEPTIONS FOR EARNING AVIOS AND ELITE POINTS:

    • Avios redemption fares do not accumulate Avios or Elite Points.

    • Check here for the table on earning Avios and Elite Points for negotiated fares or those where the paid fare is not disclosed or unavailable.

    • If, due to circumstances beyond the control of Iberia Club, the accumulable spending on a flight cannot be determined, awards will be given according to the table based on distance and cabin of oneworld.

     

    NOTES FOR AVIOS AND ELITE POINTS:

    • Elite Points depend on net spending (fare and carrier charges), excluding taxes and fees applied to your ticket.

    • Elite Points (Extra by fare) are additional amounts of Elite Points earned based on the distance, cabin, and fare applied to your flight.

    • Flights with an American Airlines (AA) code operated by a company not associated with Iberia do not qualify for the accrual of Avios and Elite Points.

    • Iberia reserves the right to modify these tables.

    • Iberia reserves the right to exclude fares from the earning of Elite Points and Avios.

    Notes

    • Iberia reserves the right to modify this Avios redemption table.

    • Booking and issue of tickets charged to your Avios for flights operated by American Airlines and code AA are exempt from booking fees if made through the private area of Iberia.com.
      There will be an additional charge per ticket when the booking is made through its Service Center (except for Platinum clients, who are exempt).

    • For flights including two (Iberia Group and British Airways not included) or more oneworld alliance carriers, please see the Avios use table for oneworld here.

    • The class Full Economy is only available in combination with flights with Iberia Group.
