    EARNING ELITE POINTS AND AVIOS

    For each flight you take with a British Airways (BA) code, you can earn:

    • Avios, the currency you accumulate in your balance to redeem for flights, accommodation, car hire, leisure experiences, and more.

    • Elite Points which you use to move up or maintain your level in Iberia Club. They also grant access to Elite Rewards, exclusive gifts that you obtain along the way to a new level.

    Earning Avios on direct flights with a British Airways (BA) code is based on the following criteria:

    • Spending in pounds (£).
      Applicable to net spending (fare and carrier charges) excluding taxes and fees.

    • Destination, cabin, and fare of the flight.

    Notes:

    • Elite Points and Avios can be earned on the following ancillary services for flights with the British Airways code operated by British Airways, BA Cityflyer, BA Euroflyer, and Sun-Air of Scandinavia: additional baggage, seat selection, and cabin upgrade.

    • For flights with the British Airways code operated by Iberia, Iberia Express, or Iberia Regional - Air Nostrum, Elite points and Avios can be earned on the following ancillary services: additional baggage, seat selection, cabin upgrade, change fee, pet transport, unaccompanied minor service, and flexibility products.

     

    EXCEPTIONS FOR EARNING AVIOS AND ELITE POINTS:

    • Avios redemption fares do not accumulate Avios or Elite Points.

    • Check here for the table on earning Avios and Elite Points for negotiated fares or those where the paid fare is not disclosed or unavailable, including flights booked as part of a British Airways Holidays package.

    • If, due to circumstances beyond the control of Iberia Club, the accumulable spending on a flight cannot be determined, awards will be given according to the table based on distance and cabin of oneworld.

     

    NOTES FOR AVIOS AND ELITE POINTS:

    • Elite Points depend on net spending (fare and carrier charges), excluding taxes and fees applied to your tickets or your ancillaries.

    • For tickets purchased in another currency, the total eligible spend will be converted to British pounds (£) using the applicable IATA 5-day exchange rate on the date the ticket was issued or payment for the ancillary service was made.
      As a result, Avios and Elite Points will be calculated using this converted amount.

    • Elite Points Extra by fare are additional amounts of Elite Points earned based on the distance, cabin, and fare applied to your flight.

    • Flights with a British Airways (BA) code operated by a company not associated with Iberia do not qualify for the accrual of Avios and Elite Points.

    • Iberia reserves the right to modify these tables.

    • Iberia reserves the right to exclude fares from the earning of Elite Points and Avios.

    British Airways applies different redemption prices for Peak and Off Peak seasons. Peak and Off Peak dates differ from those for Iberia flights.
