Additional and overweight baggage

Online purchasing of additional luggage is only available if the itinerary consists of all Iberia flights (including flights operated by Air Nostrum and Iberia Express). Online purchasing is not permitted for connecting flights with other companies.

If any of your items weighs more or is bigger than the maximum set limit, you will have to pay the excess weight charge directly at the airport check-in desk.see exceptions for Iberia Plus clients

Ensure that you are at the check-in desk at least 20 minutes before the recommended time if you are travelling with additional baggage.

Charges for extra and excess-weight items

Note: If the journey originates in America, Africa or the Middle East and is paid over the Internet it will be in US dollars ($), with the exchange rate at 1:1
(1) To/From Brazil, 2 pieces are permitted for all economy classes. The authorised weight per bag is 32 kg instead of 23 kg, a benefit which is applicable on the return journey as well as the outbound.
(2) Economy class free baggage allowance to/from Angola is 2 items up to 23 kg each. Third and successive items are subject to a fee of €200 per item. (3) Passengers travelling in Business class when the origin, destination or transit point is the U.S., Puerto Rico, Mexico or Canada, will not incur overweight charges provided the long-haul flight is operated by American Airlines, British Airways or Iberia. On the rest of the flights flown in Business class the overweight charge will also be waived when the total weight of the baggage does not exceed the personal allowance.
(4) There is a free baggage allowance of 3 items in Business Class and 2 items in Economy Class to/from Nigeria, Senegal, Mauritania, Ghana and Equatorial Guinea (to/from Equatorial Guinea the limit is 1 item in economy class in high season: from 16/06 to 20/09 and 21/11 to 15/01). Only one additional item of luggage is permitted to/from these destinations, at a flat rate of €200 per item.
(5) Tickets issued with resident discount in The Canaries, Balearics, Ceuta and Melilla, an excess weight charge of 15 € will be applied on the first suitcase, except for IB5000 series flights.
(6) Sailors: 2 items of 23kg.
(7) For tickets issued prior to 18 October 2012, the charge for the first suitcase is €15 at iberia.com and €30 at the airport. The prices featured on the table will apply to second and subsequent items.

 

 (8) From 6th May, Iberia Express limits the baggage allowance to 1 piece (except for flights to / from Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Athens). Tickets issued prior to this date will not be affected. Prices for purchasing additional baggage will also change, regardless of the date the ticket was purchased.

A maximum of 10 pieces in addition to the free allowance are permitted, except for routes with specific restrictions. A maximum of 3 additional pieces of excess luggage are allowed on flights with Iberia Regional Air Nostrum (IB8000), of up to 23 kg per passenger
