TAM Airlines (in Portuguese, TAM Linhas Aéreas ) is the largest Brazilian airline in Latin America , and one of the 20 largest in the world. One of the leading Jordanian companies, Royal Jordanian was established in 1963 as the national air carrier. On Feb. 5, 2001, RJ was registered under the name of "Alia", the Royal Jordanian Airline Public Shareholding Company. The company is presently heading toward selling 74% of its shares to local and international investors and the Jordanian government is keeping 26% of the shares. Royal Jordanian headquarters are located in the heart of the capital, Amman, and its flights are operated from Queen Alia International Airport. The RJ fleet includes: Airbus A310, A320, A321, A340, Q400 and Embraer 195 aircraft. To date, Royal Jordanian concluded the modernization program of its short- and medium-haul fleet, having replaced the leased Airbus 310 and 320 aircraft with six modern, newly manufactured A320 and A321 aircraft. Additionally, RJ has received 2 Embraer 195s so far under a contract signed with the Brazilian Embraer for the acquisition of seven Embraer 195 aircraft.
