Gijón Aquarium
In a land very much oriented toward the sea, a place that both kids and their parents will equally enjoy.
Both entertaining and educational.
With 401 kilometres (250 miles) of coastline and a centuries-old maritime tradition, Asturias and the ocean are very much intertwined, and at this huge aquarium opened in 2006 you can see many of the creatures and habitats of the Cantabrian Sea as well as aquatic life from around the planet among the collection of more than 4,000 swimming animals of some 400 species, including turbot, starfish, seahorses, lobster, jellyfish, octopuses, penguins, clownfish, sharks, turtles, rays, moray eels, and pufferfish. They're housed in some 60 tanks divided according to geography.
