Get your day off to an excellent start the way the locals do

For breakfast in Jaén it's an absolute must to try café a secas. Living as they do in a region which produces some of the world's best olive oils, and soaked in the best Mediterranean tradition, locals have their coffee, fruit juice, milk, and so forth - but one thing always on the table are hearty slices of toasted bread annointed with olive oil and tomato. It's a universal and very affordable staple of practically every café and bar hereabouts, and usually includes a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice (for a tiny bit extra, you can get your bread with a slice of typical jamón serrano, cured ham). Both healthy and tasty - a local custom you should have no problem getting to like.
