Granada is nationally famous for its tapas

Tapas are of course found all over Spain, but Granada in particular is especially famous for quality, presentation, and generous portions. The creativity and friendly competition among local tapas bars has gotten to the point where some are known more for their signature tapa than by name - and Granadans are keep that very much in mind when it's time to go out for a pint. El tapeo (tapas-barhopping) is one of the most enjoyable things to do here, and you'll want to make sure your list of destinations includes the venerable Los Manueles on Called Reyes Católicos, whose star is the Sacromonte omelette, and El Sibari in Plaza Nueva, which among other things in wintertime specialises in a little cup of broth as a tapa. Near the university (in an area known for its tapas spots and low prices), check out El Arenal on Calle Virgen del Monte, where you must order the squid rings with potatoes.
