Stay dry underwater
Just north of the east-coast town of Sant Antonio de Portmany, this modest-size facility is a very different kind of aquarium, based in a large cave adapted as a 300-square-metre (3,230 sq.-foot) marine sanctuary that's essentially part of rather than separated from the Mediterranean. You'll see quite a few of the area's most typical species, including groupers, rays, damselfish, lobsters, moray eels, bream, and julia fish, among many, many others. You can get pretty up close and personal with them, too, thanks to a clear underwater tunnel. This is supplemented by various other exhibits of other cool stuff, from sea sponges to shark eggs. Kids will love it - but so will grown-ups!
