Beloved impressionists
The former Orsay train station is now the grand home of this impressive art gallery, dedicated to 19th century art. It is renowned for its realist, impressionist and post-impressionist paintings and also has a sizeable collection of sculptures, artefacts and decorative, cinematic and photographic art. In the Musée d’Orsay you’ll find masterpieces such as Luncheon on the Grass by Édouart Manet, Tahitian Women on the Beach by Paul Gauguin, L’Absinthe by Edgar Degas or Dance in the Country by Pierre Auguste Renoir. It is also home to the work of painters such as Ingres, Coubert, pissarro, Monet, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Manet, Munch, Matisse, Delacroix, Degas, Cézanne, Tolouse-Lautrec and other distinguished artists.
