Open air markets: Le Marche aux Fleurs and Les Puces de Saint-Ouen
Flowers and birds. Clothing, antiques and vintage jewellery. How about a stroll through these markets?
The largest in Europe
Open air markets are another of the most popular attractions in the City of Light. They come in all shapes and sizes, although Le Marche aux Fleurs and Les Puces de Saint-Ouen are perhaps the most striking. The first takes place in the Place Louise Lépine on the Île de la Cité and is a dedicated flower market. In operation since 1808, it is the oldest market in the city. On Sundays opening hours are extended from 9am to 7pm and it also sells all types of birds. The second, Les Puces de Saint-Ouen , is in the Montmartre area. Extremely popular at the weekends, it mainly sells clothes and antiques but also jewellery and anything vintage. With close to 2,500 stalls, it is the second largest market in Europe.
