Located toward the southern end of 27 Avenida Norte, near the historic city centre, this innovative museum was founded in the 1990s largely to preserve the words and images relating to the 1981-1992 civil war, though it includes quite a few other aspects of Salvadoran society before and after that period as well, including indigenous cultures, natural phenomena, and women in El Salvador.
