Possibly the most famous Spanish chef in the United States, as well as one of the most lauded. José Ramón Andrés Puerta, better known as José Andrés, arrived in New York when he was only 21, after going through the fires of Ferran Adrià's restaurant, El Bulli. He is currently a successful businessman who oversees several establishments across the whole of the United States. He has his own television program and Time magazine placed him among the top 100 most influential people in the world in 2012. In Los Angeles, he runs The Bazaar by José Andrés, a small place with barely a dozen seats, in the SLS Hotel Beverly Hills (which he also owns), on 465 South La Cienega Boulevard. The experience offered by the Asturian chef is a unique simulation of a tasca, where the client sits on a stool and eats at the bar. The establishment opened in 2008 and its innovative offerings include a variety of tapas and small Spanish-based dishes.
