Cathedral of the Good Shepherd of San Sebastián

Big shepherd!

New by the standards of Spain's cathedrals, the Catedral del Buen Pastor de San Sebastián was built as part of the Ensanche ("widening") which enlarged San Sebastián through the latter half of the 19th century by developing what was once swamp and sandy isthmus (the project, in fact, had quite a few doubters thanks to said swampiness). The cathedral was built in the 1890s in neo-Gothic style designed by architect Manuel de Echave as the most monumental of its day, thanks especially to its enormous central tower; it didn't attain cathedral status until 1953. The inside is pretty spectacular, too, with a soaring central nave and grand stained-glass windows.
