San Sebastián's defining maritime heritage, beautifully presented

Naval Museum

Anchors aweigh!

Like most cities on the Cantabrian Sea, San Sebastián started as a fishing village at the foot of Mt. Urgull, and as it grew into one of northern Spain's principal ports, its fortunes remained firmly intertwined with the sea. That heritage is celebrated in the Museo Naval, occupying an 18th-century casona (manse), the Casa-Torre del Consulado. The exhibitions and displays tell the story of the city and region via maps, instruments, and other maritime artifacts.
