Easily accessible yet away from La Concha Beach's summertime crowds

Ondarreta Beaches

Another surfers' favourite

A pair of beaches also situated on La Concha Bay within the city, but with a wilder feel than La Concha Beach itself. The first is tucked under Mount Igueldo across from Santa Clara Island - away from the La Concha Beach summertime crowds but still offering a great variety of water sports (including some pretty gnarly waves thanks to its exposure to open ocean - which makes it especially popular with surfers when conditions get a tad too rough over at La Zurriola Beach). It's connected to San Sebastián's other city beaches via the lovely waterfront promenade, seven kilometres (three miles) long - which ends at the cliffside Peine de los Vientos, dramatic modern sculptures by 20th-century maestro Eduardo Chillida.
