The Basque Country is a surfing mecca, and San Sebastián its epicentre
Catch a wave
San Sebastián is one of the key surf spots of northern Spain - and indeed all of Spain. More precisely, at 800-metre (2,625-foot) Zurriola Beach, right near the iconic Kursaal cultural/entertainment complex. Surfers from all over Europe and often beyond flock to these waters, which offer remarkably gnarly wave conditions as they meet the mouth of the Urumea River. Surf shops and schools along this stretch abound.
