Tapas-bar hopping is a favourite pastime in this foodie city

Tapas Route

Tasty Old Town

Tapas in the Basque Country are often called pintxos, and San Sebastián's Parte Vieja (Old Town) is for many the gold standard, packed with acclaimed and award-winning tapas bars. And a pinxto crawl is one of the tastiest, most fun ways to get to know this part of what many consider Spain's best eating city. Starting behind the city hall, the tapas bars seem uncountable, and as of midday, they're all full of locals hopping from one to the other (especially, of course, when the weather's warm and the sidewalk tables a-bustle).
