It is worthwhile getting out of the centre of the city by metro to go to North Kedzie Avenue, very near Logan Square, where you will find an excellent menu which combines traditional American dishes made with organic, local produce with creative cookery. The chef, Jared Wentworth is in charge of the menu which changes frequently, sometimes even daily, as he offers only high-quality produce available at the market on that day. You can have breakfast here from 8 in the morning, but lunch or dinner comes highly recommended, although you won't know what's on the menu until you see it.
