A peaceful escape to the great outdoors.
If you'd like a break from the city and beaches, do what the locals do and head for this peaceful woods, where you can stroll, have a barbecue, and enjoy lovely views over the Mediterranean coast. This is also the site of the extraordinary annual Romería del Rocío (El Rocío Pilgrimage), in which 20 decorated carriages and various multitudes participate in a procession modeled after the reknowned event of the same name in Huelva. Here in the pine woods you'll find Melilla's only campground, also called Rostrogordo, which besides tent sites also has wooden cabins and various facilities including a pool.
