Bodega La Pascuala

A city beachfront sandwich star

Should you find yourself getting peckish whilst strolling the beachfront Passeig Marítim, head to this Valencia lunchtime institution. Also known as Casa Boix, La Pascuala's claim to fame is simple and effective: it serves the city's biggest sandwiches - as big as your forearm. The place starts to fill up as of midday, and it's not uncommon to see lines forming to order. The fare itself is actually pretty original; besides your standard sandwich fare you can find the likes of grilled sobrasada (a particularly savoury sausage), blood-sausage omelette, and even horse meat. More in a fishy mood? Try the popular fried cod.
