A short drive south of the city, a beach where you can really get away from it all (and even leave your swimsuit behind, if you like!)

El Saler Beach

Lovely beach in a nature reserve

Weather permitting, beach bunnies will find it well worth their while to take a ten-minute bus ride south to a beach called El Saler, in the La Albufera Nature Park. With its enormous dunes and lovely white sand extending more than three kilometres (nearly two miles), it's especially appealing because it's largely undeveloped (though you can also find some beach restaurants around in which to enjoy some excellent local fish and other dishes such as fideuà and rice with lobster). And, psst...there are also some stretches where you can cultivate that, er, all-over tan.
