Bologna Municipal Theatre
Bologna's premier temple of classical music has hosted the greats
Maestro, please
Italian bel canto and classical music are of course among the jewels of Western culture, and Bologna's 18th-century Teatro Comunale, designed by Antonio Galli di Bibbiena, has been its premier local avatar since it was inaugurated with Il Trionfo di Clelia in 1763 and later hosted the likes of Rossini, Bellini, and Verdi. It's become a key player on the Italian theatre and symphony circuit, and figures of national and international reknown pass through here every season. Schedule: www.tcbo.it
