Museo Nacional de Arqueología, Antropología e Historia (National Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology and History)
We are at Lima's oldest and most important museum. The archaeological x-ray that it takes of the country is really interesting.
A quick and easy way to find out the authentic past of Peru without moving from Lima is to visit the 'Museo Nacional de Arqueología, Antropología e Historia' in the city. It's considered to be the oldest and most important museum of Peru, which was founded in 1822, and its exhibitions show only a small part of what is actually preserved in the museum's restoration rooms. The museum contains an extensive collection that includes the remains of different kinds of bones and mummies, pottery, ceramics and rudimentary weapons dating back to the year 12,000 BC and examines the country through the archaeological remains which are found on the sites. A section devoted to pre-Columbian art, explains the characteristics of this society, through its objects, as well as its decorative and spiritual evolution from their original beliefs and conversion to Christianity.
