Richard H. Driehaus Museum

Travel back in time.

Although you will not find a large art collection inside, both the exterior and the interior of this building will transport the visitor back to the great mansions of nineteenth-century Chicago. This house, belonging to the banker Samuel Mayo Nickerson, was converted in 2003 by Richard H. Driehaus into a very special museum. Its interior has retained the essence of the age with elegant historic furnishings and important works of art by Louis Comfort Tiffany and the Herter brothers. We recommend that you take this opportunity to experience, through its magnificent interior architecture, what life was like at that time. Entrance into this beautiful mansion, which is located close to the Magnificent Mile, at 40 East Erie Street, costs $20. (It is not open on Mondays). For more information www.driehausmuseum.org.
