Museum of Contemporary Art
A collection of art by Canarians or artists connected to the islands in a 17th-century townhouse in Santa Cruz's Old Town
Modern art, historic building
Calle Virgen de la Luz, one of the streets in Santa Cruz's Old Town, is home to a number of historic buildings with pedigrees stretching back multiple centuries. One of the best known is the 17th-century house of a military officer, Captain Juan Vandewalle de Aguiar - in part because after it was damaged in an early-20th-century fire, the city authorities undertook its rebuilding and conversion into what is today the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Santa Cruz de la Palma. The collection is focussed on modern artists either of Canarian origin or connected in other ways to the Canary Islands; there's also an events hall, library, and a large exterior courtyard.
