The Art Nouveau Mercat Central (Central Market) is jam-packed with all manner of picturesquely arranged foodstuffs and local delicacies - and right by the marketplace's front steps, you'll find a number of improvised stands equipped with counters, tables, and high chairs, where you can get a direct taste of much of this bounty, either on the spot or as take-away (several of these will also sell you a paella pan and utensils - great souvenirs for foodies who want to try their hand back home). The focus is on fresh local products, but in recent years the choices have also widened and become more diverse, with options for many different tastes indeed: juices and vegan cuisine (Almalibre Açaí Bar), fresh seafood (Crudo Bar), Mediterranean cuisine (Carosel), just to cite several.
