How can I earn Avios?

Step 1

Enter your Iberia Plus card number when you book your flight or when you check in.

Step 2

Flown with American Airlines in the last 6 months and the Avios are not yet in your account? You have up to six months from the date of your flight to claim them by clicking here

American Airlines

EARNING ELITE POINTS AND AVIOS

You will collect the following for each flight you take with the American Airlines (AA) code:

  • Avios, a currency that you get in your Iberia Plus balance to redeem for flights and other opportunities offered by the programme.

  • Elite Points, a currency you get exclusively on flights and serving as a measure for keeping and/or gaining access to tier levels.

Earning Avios on flights with the American Airlines (AA) code (purchased on or after 18/10/2023) is related to the following criteria:

  • Spend in euros (€). Applicable to net expense (fare and carrier imposed charges) and excluding non-airline taxes and fees, such as airport charges and government taxes.

  • Tier level (Platino, Oro and Plata bonuses).

  • Iberia reserves the right to exclude fares from the receipt of Elite Points and Avios. Check here Iberia Plus Programme General Conditions.

  • Codeshare flights booked with the code of a carrier associated to Iberia but operated by a company not associated to Iberia do not meet the requirements for the award of Avios and Elite Points.

  • Iberia reserves the right to modify this Avios use table.

  • Booking and issue of tickets charged to your Avios for flights operated by American Airlines and code AA are exempt from booking fees if made through the private area of Iberia.com. There will be an additional charge per ticket when the booking is made through its Service Center (except for Platinum clients, who are exempt).

  • The class Full Economy is only available in combination with flights with Iberia Group.
