    The earning of Avios for flights is based on each euro (€) spent and taking into account the member Tier
  • Redeem: The Avios required to book a flight will depend on the season and the class of the booking. 4,500 Avios are equivalent to a low-season flight within the Iberian Peninsula.

How can I earn Avios?

Step 1

Enter your Iberia Plus card number when you book your flight or when you check in.

Step 2

Flown with Iberia in the last 6 months and the Avios are not yet in your account? You have up to six months from the date of your flight to claim them by clicking here

Iberia Express

EARNING ELITE POINTS AND AVIOS

You obtain the following for each flight you book with the Iberia Express (I2) code:

  • Avios, a currency that you accumulate in your Iberia Plus balance to redeem for flights and other opportunities offered by the Program.

  • Elite Points, a currency obtained exclusively on flights and serving as a measure for maintenance and/or access to Elite card levels.

Earning Avios on direct flights with Iberia Express (I2) code (purchased on or after (29/11/2022) is related to the following criteria:

  • Expenses in euros (€). Applicable to net expense (fare and operator charges) excluding taxes and fees.

  • Card level (Platino, Oro and Plata bonuses).

ADVISORY ON AVIOS AND ELITE POINTS

  • Elite Points will depend on the class in which you make the reservation and the distance, in miles, corresponding to each leg. 

  • Other flights include those not included in the rest of the defined zones (for example, inter-European flights without origin/destination Spain operated by Vueling or inter-American flights such as Quito-Guayaquil).

  • Iberia reserves the right to modify these tables, as well as the scheduling of its routes and flights.

  • Iberia reserves the right to exclude fares from earning Elite Points and Avios. Check the general programme conditions.

  • Flights with IB code operated by companies not associated with the Iberia Plus program do not generate Avios or Elite Points.

  • Check the leg and class restrictions on IB-coded flights operated by other carriers in the individual carrier tables.

Iberia Express

The following table applies to direct flights operated by Iberia Group (Iberia, Iberia Express, Iberia Regional / Air Nostrum) and Vueling.

British Airways applies different prices in peak and off peak season when it comes to redeeming Avios and the dates for peak and off peak season are different than the ones Iberia applies.

Notes

  • The bands are determined by the distance between origin and destination (per flight). A return ticket will cost twice a single ticket.

  • This Avios use table has exceptions, meaning that not all flights whose distance corresponds to some band are included in the band.

  • The table does not apply when the ticket combines Iberia Group flights with those of any other carrier (except British Airways, Meridiana and Vueling). For more information see the Avios use table in the oneworld section.

  • Upgrade to the Business cabin is available from the Full Economy (tariffs Y, B and H) classes

  • Iberia/Iberia Express reserve the right to modify the Avios use table.

  • Booking and issue of tickets charged to your Avios for flights operated by Iberia Group and Vueling are exempt from booking fees if made through Iberia.com. There will be an additional charge per ticket when the booking is made through its Service Center (except for Platinum clients, who are exempt).
