This building is one of the world's leading theatres. It takes the name of the church that previously occupied this place. Its construction was completed in 1778 on number 2, Via Filodrammatici, under the name Nuovo Regio Ducal Teatro alla Scala as a fire destroyed the previous theatre. Since it opened, its stage has welcomed performances from the world's stars: Montserrat Caballé, Plácido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti and strangely enough, even Marilyn Monroe performed here. Despite its rather sober exterior, its interior has become one of the most beautiful and luxurious places in Milan. If you get the chance, attend one of its shows. You can buy tickets for around 25 euros and as well as watching a spectacular show, you will visit one of the buildings fundamental to Milan's history.
