Known as ‘Bologna the Learned’ due to its university (established in 1088, the oldest in the Western world) or ‘Bologna the Fat’ due to its exquisite food, it is also a stunning city brimming with art and history with every turn. It is no wonder that the second-largest medieval Old Town in Europe, after that of Venice, is found here.
Located in the north of Italy, the city and its metropolitan zone are the most important Italian communication hubs for roads, motorways and railways.
