Just behind the Plaza del Ayuntamiento in Santander is the 'Mercado de La Esperanza'. Lots of trading goes on here. Check the opening hours and see it for yourself. You will love to see the stalls with their fruit, vegetables, fish, meat... There are also shops selling typical products where you can find real delicacies. This huge building with a green roof was erected in 1897. Thanks to its iron structure, characteristic of the 19th century, it remained standing despite the fire of 1941.
