El Hierro was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and is the perfect place for diving. On La Gomera, you can visit Garajonay National Park, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site and home to Laurel Forest, where a diverse array of flora and fauna live, due to its year-round mild temperatures and humidity. The most famous ‘island of eternal spring’, Tenerife is the largest of the islands, with popular beaches in the south and the Teide National Park, where you will find the volcano with the largest base in the world. Gran Canaria is the most inhabited of the islands and, in addition to its beaches with fine sand in the south, offers mountain trails leading to Roque Nublo and the Pico de Las Nieves, as well as numerous protected natural spaces. Lanzarote is home to architect Cesar Manrique, and boasts stunning volcanic landscapes. Fuerteventura is the closest to Africa, and one of the best places in the world for windsurfing.
