The coast of the southern Tías region is a more touristic zone, with a large number of hotels. To take in some of the island’s most important monuments, head to the island’s capital of Arrecife, home to various defensive castles, such as San Gabriel and San José, where you will find the International Museum of Contemporary Art in its fortress, designed by César Manrique.
