One of the city's most beautiful green spaces brings together numerous species of trees both native and from farflung lands. Perhaps the most prominent specimens are a pair of huge, ancient elms. Within the garden is a funerary monument erected in honuor of Scottish general Sir John Moore, fallen at the Battle of A Elviña in 1809. Inside you can see headstones inscribed with verse in English and Galician, by Rosalia de Castro entitled "In the tomb of General Sir John Moore". In addition to the romantic beauty of the garden, the overlook offers some lovely views over the bay and the port of A Coruña.
