How would you like to watch a flamingo colony of nearly 3,000 birds?Walking through wetlands where the black-necked grebe has its nests? If you know nothing about birds, but you would like to learn while visiting a protected area, the Parque Nacional de las Lagunas de la Mata y Torrevieja is the place to go. The park has an Interpretation centre where you can get information on what you will find during your hike, recommended routes and basic rules to protect the environment. The Parque Natural de Las Lagunas is in the area known as Vega Baja del Segura, between the villages of Torrevieja and Guardamar del Segura, among other municipalties, about 40 minutes from Alicante. The Visitor Centre is only open in the morning and, in addition to the permanent exhibition, offers informative brochures for the visitors.
